Litters
Ibizan Hounds are consistently one of the fewest-registered breeds in the AKC due to a relatively small and responsible community of preservation breeders who do not produce many litters each year. Because of this, you should be prepared to do your homework, speak with reputable breeders and ask to be placed on a reservation list for a future litter. Do not be discouraged if there are not puppies available when you first contact a breeder as most have several reservations before they even breed a litter. Abbaio Ibizan Hounds produces an average of 1-2 litters per year out of health-tested and titled parents with sound temperaments.

This litter is due October 24, 2025! Archie is a young male with a lot of promise! He finished his championship easily with several majors and a Bred by Exhibitor Group 1st! His temperament is second to none, he is incredibly sweet to all people and other dogs. He is just above the top of the standard for height and just under 60 lbs. He has a tight, very hard smooth coat and a very easy, ground-covering and efficient side gait. He has a beautiful croup, lovely tail carriage and full dentition.
Adele is a substantial bitch with strong bone but not coarse or doggy in any way. She has a very ground-covering stride and powerful gallop with lovely tail carriage and strong toes. She has a very short coat and a pretty expression. She is not the most cuddly, but is extremely affectionate in her own way which usually involves flying hugs.
Puppies will be smooth-coated, mostly red with various white markings. There may be puppies available for show/performance/pet homes. All puppies will be AKC registered, microchipped, BAER tested, have exams and age-appropriate vaccinations administered by a licensed veterinarian, regular deworming and appropriate health certificates.

Health Testing
Abbaio is committed to the health of our dogs and puppies. Abbaio has produced more OFA CHIC Ibizan Hounds than any other breeder. Breeding dogs are tested for hearing (BAER), vision (OFA CAER), hips (OFA or Penn Hip), thyroid (OFA) and cardiac (OFA). Most results are available to be viewed in the public database at ofa.org, though I do often submit hearing, vision and cardiac testing in batches so they may not be viewable right away. Many or all of these tests are often performed on dogs I have bred but do not plan to use in my breeding program in order to have more information about the entire family. BAER hearing testing is performed on my puppies before they go to their new homes, as well as at least 1 physical and cardiac exam by my veterinarian.
